Warm stone baked pizzas, tender premium steaks, flavoursome pastas and speciality char-grilled dishes, at Lucia wine bar & grill you’re spoilt for choice and will certainly be satisfied.
The Harrogate restaurant is situated a short walk from the town centre making it an ideal location for lunch if you’re out shopping or for dinner if you fancy something that’s classy and of high quality.
From the outside, the restaurant embodies a welcoming atmosphere with beautiful greenery surrounding the stone building and twinkly fairy lights to create a feeling of warmth. Seating is available outside on the terrace and each area is accompanied with blankets and patio heaters to keep guests warm in the winter months.
As the main body of the restaurant is entered, a small but refined bar is visible to the right where an array of drinks can be purchased. There is also another bar downstairs meaning that Lucia also caters for those who may be out just for drinks.
Drink prices are reasonable with a few not to be missed offers in place including the ‘After work club’ cocktail offer which entitles guests to cocktails for £3 and jugs for £9 between 5pm-7pm Monday-Friday. This great offer is also available all day on a Tuesday.
Their cocktail menu is extensive including all the classics, Margaritas, cosmopolitans and mojitos with frozen and champagne cocktails also being available. They also offer a vast selection of wines, beers and ciders, mocktails and soft drinks.
Now, onto the best part- the food…
Fresh warm flatbread with just the right amount of garlic and tasty tomato sauce makes for an ideal starter and at just £4.50, you can’t complain. The flatbreads also come with garlic, rosemary and sea salt or tomato and basil pesto.
Other starter options include meat or vegetable solo or sharing platters which come with a great selection including cheeses, chutneys and homemade breads. Lucia also offers ‘small plates’ which are just £4.50 each and would make an ideal starter or a selection of a few would be a great idea for a light lunch. These include, calamari, chicken wings, garlic mushrooms, meatballs and chilli king prawns to name a few.
The selection of food for main courses at Lucia is extensive, there’s definitely something for everyone. Classic Italian pizzas and pastas are a recommended choice. The Gamberoni pizza is soft and doughy and the mozzarella cheese is delicious. The prawns cooked in garlic butter are succulent and full of flavour and the rocket is a lovely accompaniment for some extra flavour.
Pizza prices range from £8.25- £11.45 and options include classic margarita, the Lucca with chorizo red peppers and olives and the Pollo with chicken peppers pesto and spinach and many more with extra toppings also available if desired. Pastas range from £8.45- £11.45 and consist of a chicken arrabbiata if you fancy something with a bit of a spicy kick to a simplistic yet scrumptious lasagne and also a selection of seafood pastas.
Lucia calls their selection of ‘from the grill’ dishes their specialities and these are cooked fresh on a char-grill to give them a unique BBQ taste. These include, sea bass, salmon, pork belly and chorizo sausage and a rump of lamb. All ranging from £10.45-£13.95 and for the quality of these dishes, the prices are well justified and certainly reasonable.
Other main course options include, steaks cooked to your specifications, burgers, salads, sandwiches and risottos. They also have a gluten free menu if desired.
If you still have room for more – and lets face it who can resist a dessert now and then – then there’s surely something to tempt you. Tiramisu, cheesecake, panna cotta or real Italian gelato, all make for the perfect finish to a delightful meal. Hot drinks, liquor coffees and dessert wines are also available.
So, if you ever find yourself wanting a romantic, sophisticated dinner, a quick tasty shopping break lunch or even a location for well priced evening drinks then Lucia wine bar & grill should definitely be considered.
